When Adidas wanted to promote their All In Or Nothing Challenge, we knew that simple banners and video ads would not be enough to attract users to play. So we set out to create ads that hooked users by giving them the full experience of the Street View based game play.
Using Google's Custom Lightbox format, we created interactive hover-to-expand units in which new players started the first round of the game right within the ad units. After finding the first checkpoint, users were taken to the game site where they tried to complete the daily round.
